Let the Festive Season Begin!

That time of year has suddenly arrived – the time where our social calendars are full of Christmas parties and Summer barbeques (well, that’s usually the case here in Queensland. Maybe not so much if you live somewhere else). Where has the year gone?

Surviving those social engagements can be taxing on the wardrobe. I usually like to have a ‘party season outfit’ organised to get me through all those social occasions. Luckily for me, the groups of people I like to spend time with at this time of year do not overlap, so I can use the same outfit for all three Christmas parties.

The question is…. do you go out and purchase a new outfit, or do you already have a few items in your wardrobe that you haven’t put together before and can create a fresh new combo?

At first, I started shopping around for that new outfit, and I did find the odd number I liked. But I could not make a decision and I have a rule that you shouldn’t buy it if you don’t love it or you’ll never wear it. So I went back to my wardrobe at home and had a re-think.

Only a few months ago I purchased a few new numbers as my wardrobe so desperately needed it, so I dug them out and laid them on the bed. I then thought about who would see me in this outfit and what had they seen me in before. I also thought about the dress code of these events I had to attend. This narrowed down my choices. I kept coming back to two items that on their own are two of my favourites, but I had never thought about putting them together before. Then it hit me… why don’t I put them together?! Like magic, my ‘party season outfit’ was born and I didn’t have to spend a cent! Win-win!

What was the winning combo, I hear you ask? Well, it happened to by my black Crossroads jumpsuit and my red Birds Nest Everyday Blazer, as seen in the photo shoot pic in this blog. This photo is choice number 3 when voting for my profile pic. For choices number 1 and 2, refer to the Wardrobe Wednesday blog I posted this week. Choice number 4 will be posted in a few days time.

Last night I got to take out my party outfit for it’s first spin (second spin if you count the photo shoot on the weekend). I got to celebrate the festive season with the gorgeous gals from my breast cancer support group. We like to meet roughly once a month and have a good yarn about boobs, life and the universe. I love seeing these lovely lasses each month and find out how well we are all doing now that our lives are returning to a ‘normal’, albeit a ‘new normal’. They are all such lovely, beautiful, positive and uplifting souls. Each and every single one of them. I don’t know how I would’ve got through some of those tough times without them.

Here we are at the restaurant last night. Look at all those stunning sistas!!

I get to wear this outfit again on Saturday night when I attend my work’s Christmas party and then again while attending my S.E.S. Christmas party on Tuesday night. But I am sure that won’t be the last time I take it out for a spin!

How about you, sistas? What do you do for the festive season in regard to your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments below this blog. I’d love to hear from you.

You looked amazing in your festive outfit Katrina. It has given me some ideas for myself as I have a couple of red jackets too. If it gets too hot, perhaps a red shawl with a black outfit would go. A gold belt would have to be a must. As for your profile picture. That’s a hard one. It must be your killer dimples and cropped blond hair. Before seeing choice 4, im going to lock in 3. The festive outfit. You look stunning.

Oh Lisa. Anyone would think I was paying you to write such lovely comments! THANK YOU! I’m glad I have given you some inspiration in my own little way. Feel free to post a pic once you have the outfit together. I’d love to see it. 🙂
