It’s been a little chilly here in Brisbane (finally!) and many of us are starting to incorporate those scarves into our outfits in order to add a little warmth. Some people think that wearing a scarf means you have to be rather clever and fancy at tying it. However, wearing a scarf doesn’t have to be complicated. You only need to be able to wear it a few very basic ways in order to be stylish.

Here are the three main ways I wear a scarf:

1.       Drape it around your neck and let it hang down your front. This is the simplest way to wear a scarf as it creates a flattering elongation effect. This would have to be the main way I wear my scarves. Even if I am not wearing it for warmth, it gives my outfit a huge lift and transforms it from boring into BAM!

2.       Loop it once around your neck and still have the tails hanging down the front. This gives a little warmth around the throat, yet the illusion of length at the front is still there. If you prefer, you can then tie the tails into a fancier knot to create more warmth or more of a feature.

3.       Fold the scarf exactly in half, creating a loop at one end. Wrap the double length around your neck and thread the tails through the loop. Adjust it to the width and tightness you prefer. I like to wear this one if I’m wearing a coat that I want to button up as it sits nicely under my coat and is much warmer than #2.

It’s as easy as that. 3 very simple and basic ways to tie your scarf can create such a difference to your outfits. If you happen to be in Brisbane on Saturday 25th June 2016 and would like some help shopping for that perfect scarf, I will be available from 9:30am – 11:30am at the Fab 14 Plus Size Markets to give you a hand. Maybe you can show me another way that you tie your scarf!
