The Sun Kissed Look

Here in sunny Queensland, November usually means it’s already well and truly shorts or maxi dress weather. If you are anything like me, you pulled out those favourite pair of denim shorts a few weeks back and put them on, only to realise that your legs are as white as snow and your arms and décolletage aren’t too much browner. Now I don’t know about you, but being home sick for the last couple of weeks means that I haven’t exactly been able to get out to the beach and work on that tan to rectify this matter. Therefore, if you are as white as me, you might need to think of a ‘plan B’ as a solution to the problem, especially since the party season is fast approaching.

You could opt to pop down to the local salon and book in for a spray tan. But as I said, when you have been ill, or perhaps you have been too flat out at work to be able to make an appointment, this isn’t always an option, no matter how good a job they do. Luckily, there is another way to achieve the sun kissed look and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home.

Introducing Tuscan Tan’s 2 in 1 Gradual Self Tan Moose. If you desire a light to medium and very natural looking tan that is only 1 or 2 shades lighter than your current shade, then this moose is for you. Not only is it designed for people with paler skin to start with, but is smells pleasant, isn’t streaky and dries in seconds. I am finding that it is so beautiful and easy to apply that you really cannot go wrong.

As with any other tanning product, you do need to prep your skin before hand by exfoliating. Tuscan Tan recommend their Exfoliating Sugar Scrub, however any of your exfoliates or body micro-dermabrasions will do the job. Personally, I find a sugar scrub too gluggy and heavy, but a body exfoliant or a micro-derm is great. You can do this in the shower and then get out and apply the moose straight away. I tend to apply the moose to only the areas that are going to be seen or not covered up by clothes. But you can do your whole body if you wish.

You do need to allow 8 hours for it to develop. However, unless you are at the gym, overheating and sweating, or swimming in a pool, it shouldn’t rub off on any clothing. Because it takes quite a while to develop, I tend to do mine on a Saturday morning so that I’m ready for that party on Saturday night. It could equally be applied at night and showered off in the morning. But I’d want to sleep on an old sheet or towel in case I was to sweat it onto my bed clothes.

After 8 hours, just wash it off with water in the shower. If you are going to use a body wash, use the Tuscan Tan’s pH Balanced Skin Wash. It is specifically designed to not have any ingredients in it that will wash off your tan. I find this product rather delicious and have used it even when I don’t have fake tan on my body. Tuscan Tan’s Tinted Tan Extender is also not a bad product and helps to prolong the life of your tan.

In total, I find that 1 application of the moose will give you that sun kissed look for up to 24-48 hours. Great for a quick weekend away. You can build up to a slightly darker tan by applying a second or third layer over a subsequent second and third day (1 coat per day). It still retains that very natural and non-streaked tan look and you will also find that it will last a little longer as well with more layers. However, if you are after a medium-dark tan, this product is not for you. For that, you need to use something like Tuscan Tan’s Full Tan Gel or Moose.

Give it a try. It’s reasonably priced and you can even buy these products a little cheaper in a pack.

Happy tanning!
