An Evening with Lisa Kerr Designs
Last night, I had the absolute pleasure of hosting a styling event with Melbourne independent fashion designer, Lisa Kerr.
Lisa has been in the fashion industry for many years and was no longer happy with designing clothing for other companies that didn’t fit her own curves. She was also disheartened with being defined by a size number and the negative mind set some ladies can have because of this number. So she went it alone and has come up with her own range of beautiful clothing and a unique {I AM} measurement guide with words that represent how you should feel wearing clothing instead of applying a number.
When I heard that Lisa was visiting Brisbane, I jumped at the chance of hosting my own style night with her. I asked some ladies to come over and meet Lisa, enjoy some good company, a glass of wine and some nibbles while viewing her lovely range of clothing (with me as the model). The ladies then got to play with the clothing and accessories at the end of the evening and make any orders if they so wished.
Lisa did an excellent job of narrating the items as I modelled them. The ladies found it excellent having their questions answered instantly by the designer herself rather than having to wait for a response via email from a clothing supplier. While I was changing, Lisa would show the ladies other alternatives to accessorising the outfits such as kimonos, scarves, necklaces and bags. She also had the opportunity to seek real feedback from the ladies so that she could incorporate what it is that people want in clothing into her next season range. Something Lisa found extremely valuable.
So what were the outfits I modelled for my friends? Well, I have included a few of them here for you. Should you like what you see, wish to see some more items or see them styled a different way, visit Lisa’s website and have a look around. Please note, if I haven’t listed an item of clothing under the picture, then it was an item out of my own wardrobe.
Lisa, I would like to thank you so much for taking the time out of your family holiday and show us your beautiful designs. It was such a wonderful night filled with fashion, friendship and fun. I can’t wait to do it again! We were so busy having fun that we forgot to have a photo together – must have been a good night! It was an honour to meet such an inspiring and positive person.
Sistas, if you live in Melbourne and would like to host your own styling night, get in touch with Lisa at info@lisakerrdesigns.com . You will have a blast!
Yellow tassel scarf
Red floral kimono
Sky Blue Rags to Riches necklace
Ornate Crochet Knitted Dress – 2 Piece Set (I’ve always wanted a nice white dress. This one also come in black). This dress is actually longer than what the model on the website wears as Lisa changed the length of the dress after the photo shoot.

In the interest of disclosure, I would like to let readers know that I did not purchase all of these items of clothing. The few items I did purchase at the end of the evening were at a discounted rate, however this did not change my editorial position on these garments or designer. In the future you may see advertising on my website or a promotional code that sistas can use when checking out via Lisa Kerr’s website in order to receive a special offer from Lisa. This is because Lisa Kerr and Sista With Style have reached an affiliation that will mutually benefit Lisa, Katrina and the readers of Sista With Style.
