How to keep your blonde, blonde.
Every sista needs a good hairdresser. Even more, every girl needs a good hair coach. You hair coach doesn’t just cut and colour your hair every 6 weeks or so, but will also coach you through how to look after you hair in between your visits. This is the key to keeping your blonde, blonde (or whatever other colour you have chosen).
Colour isn’t the only thing your coach will guide you on. They will also show you how to look after the condition of your hair so that you can avoid it drying out or getting those split ends.
With so many products on the market out there, it is very easy to get bewildered on which products are the right ones for your hair. This is where your hair coach can help.
How do I keep my blonde, blonde and in good condition?
I rely on two main products by NAK. The Ultimate Treatment and the Blonde Plus 10v Toning Foam (you don’t have to use the NAK toner, you could quite easily use one from Goldwell or another company). These two product are from their signature range.
The Ultimate Treatment is a 60 second treatment and is perfect for people on the go. It is sulphate and paraben free lotion that you apply once a week, straight after shampooing and wash out after 60 seconds (1 minute). It restores the natural moisture and shine to your hair. A treatment is a moisturiser for you hair. It replaces the moisture lost from colouring, heating, products and general everyday wear. It is a very necessary and helps prevent drying and split ends. I am yet to find another treatment that is so easy to use than the NAK Ultimate Treatment. The best bit is, you don’t need to use your regular conditioner after it. I am so glad my hair coach put me on to it.
The toning foam delivers the violet tones required to keep blonde shades from turning brassy. It is a semi permanent foam that you also use around once a week. This toner provides shine, a cool colour tone and a light condition. It works on all chemically lightened blonde hair, whether it be full head or partial colour, as well as white or greying hair.
Now, the best bit is, you can use these products together at the same time and save even more time! I think that’s what I love the most. But there are a couple of tips you should know before using them:
- Use the toner first and the treatment over the top. This is because the treatment can plug some of the pores in your hair and not allow the toner to completely do it’s full job.
- Less is better. More will just sit on top of the hair and not soak in.
- Do not leave it on longer that 5 minutes. There is actually no benefit in leaving it on longer.
It really is that simple! I receive many compliments on my hair, even when it is due to be cut and coloured. I owe such compliments to these two little products and the wonderful guidance of my hair coach, Trish at Price Attack Brookside. You own hair coach will be able to tailor your own hair car to the needs of your hair, but if you are a blonde, this is a VERY good place to start!
