Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow!

I take a lot of pride in my hair (especially after I lost it to chemo). I consider it one of my best features. But there is one little thing about my hair that really annoys me. It’s that area just below where the bottom of my hair ends and the back of my neck starts. I get these two little patches of hair that want to grow down a little further on the back of my neck. It just throws the whole symmetry of my hairline out at the back. It didn’t annoy me so much when I had longer hair, as I could cover it up with the length of my hair. But now that I’ve decided to rock the short hair for a while, it’s in plain sight for all who stand behind me to see.

If you suffer the same dilemma as me, you might think that there are only two answers to the problem. You could either learn to love them and let them grow, which can look untidy, or shave those areas off once they get to a length that you can see them. Well, I am here to offer a third solution – NAIR.

Yes, that’s right, NAIR. It’s come a long way since it was first produced. Better formulas and a wider range of products. It even has a sensitive skin range, which is the range you need to use for the back of your neck as that skin can be quite delicate.

The application process was very, very simple. Just apply the cream for about 6 minutes (please follow the instructions on the box/tube). Then wipe it off with a wet face washer. Make sure you don’t leave it on for more than 10 minutes as even though it is the sensitive skin range, you can still give your self a burn. You are better to do it twice than to leave it on longer.

Afterwards, you need to apply a little body lotion or moisturiser as it can leave your skin feeling a little dry. This will also sooth it if you have a little redness.

Overall, I found the whole process very easy and painless. It only took a few minutes and the tube cost me less that AUD$7.00. The only draw backs were that the back of you neck is not the easiest place to see what you are doing (which is not a problem of the product/company itself) therefore you might need to go by your sense of touch a little or set up some good mirrors. Even taking these photographs on my own was a little awkward. But what you can do so the you don’t get the cream up into your hair is use the blue wave stick as a stop-gap when you apply the cream. Hold it on it’s edge against your skin where you want the cream to stop and that way you get a perfect hair line when you wipe away the cream.

So there you go. My new little secret has been exposed. If you have never tried Nair, I would encourage you to check it out. You might be pleasantly surprised and find the perfect solution for keeping hairy situations at bay this Summer.
