10 Things To Make You Feel “Pretty In Pink” This Breast Cancer Awareness Month

PINK! Love it or hate it, it is one of THE hottest colours this Spring/Summer. As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought it might be fitting to pay tribute to all things pink with a list of 10 things to make you feel “pretty in pink” this season.

It doesn’t matter if it’s hot pink, rose, blush, magenta, salmon, fuchsia, baby pink, dusty pink or any shade of pink in between, there’s something pink to suit everyone. Personally, I never used to be a lover of pink (that was my little sister), but I have since embraced it, and boy, am I glad that I did. Look at all this cool stuff…..

Havana Kaftan from L’Adore & Co (One Size Fits Most – stocks limited) – You can’t go wrong with a bit of leopard. Dress it up for a night out or down for over the swimwear at the beach. It’s certainly a winner!

Adrift Poppy dress in Magenta or Freddie dress in Pink (Sizes S-4xL – some sizes on back order) – I couldn’t pick between the two so I included them both. I love the pockets and the turned up sleeve cuff of the Freddie enabling you to wear it from beach to work. But you can’t go wrong with the sophistication of the OTS Poppy dress that can take you from casual to a night out.

Frankie4 Footwear Jackie in Blush (Sizes 6 – 13) – The Pink Nats are pretty cool too! Don’t forget to take a look at their pink sockettes as well. I love mine. I’ve never found such comfortable sockettes that stay in place so well as well as stay invisible below the shoe line.

Frankie4 Footwear Nail Polish in Transcend – Seriously the best nail polish I have ever used. So smooth and easy to apply, and it is free of the 7 “nasties” that can harm our nails. The best news is that from the 1st September 2018, Frankie4 are donating all proceeds from the sale of their polishes to Buy A Bale  to help our Aussie Farmers. So not only are you helping your nails, but you are also helping others.

Pink Peonies OTS Full Piece Swimwear – This one is just so feminine, flattering and fun! Can be worn with or without straps and can also be worn under the arm instead of with sleeves. It also comes in a bikini and a tankini. A number of shops stock this range or you can buy from Capriosca Swimwear direct. However, I like to support small business so I get mine from Sequins and Sands  as they offer free shipping AND free returns. PLUS – Anita is a trained and experience swimwear fitter! She knows what she’s on about. So if you are ever in Brisbane, pop in to see her for a free fitting!

Adorne Quatro Tassel Button Earrings – These ones are technically called peach. You can get them in a pink, blue, black, mint, grey and monochrome. Statement earrings are still very much in this Summer!

Louenhide Portsea Handbag in Champagne Pink– Very versatile size. You could take this one to the beach, on the plane or use it as you every day handbag.

Gilded Cage Lipstick in Peachy Pink – I absolutely love this lippy. I wear it every day. Italian made, silky smooth and good if you are on a budget. Last time I looked they were ON SALE for $15 each!!!

Brumate Winesulator + 2 Uncork’d XL Wine Glasses in Glitter Pink – Great for picnics, parties or trips for the beach. The glasses even double as ‘keep cups’ at your local coffee shop and you won’t burn your hands. Nifty little invention! You can get 15% off by using my ambassador link –> http://i.refs.cc/r1i4cUWE?u=1538548735596

Be Uplifted Inc. – This isn’t about something pink you can purchase, but rather something you can give to that is pink. Be Uplifted Inc is a unique breast cancer charity that offers practical support and financial assistance to breast cancer patients and survivors. They are a registered charity and their client base continues to grow. There really is no other organisation like them in Australia and I am very honoured to be their ambassador. Perhaps you have some loose change you would love to donate? They would love to use it to help make a breast cancer patient’s life better. To make a donation to Be Uplifted Inc please click here, fill in the form, and in 30 seconds you would have helped a breast cancer patient. So simple!

Now I hear you…. “They are all beautiful pink things, Katrina, and it’s great that you are shining a light on breast cancer awareness this month, but I simply can’t wear pink!” Well, that’s simply not true!

What’s the key to wearing pink? Why is it such a scary colour to wear?

The key to wearing pink is to treat it like it is a warmer shade of neutral. As we get older, we tend to shy away from pink as it has connotations of being either uber feminine, too princessy, too frilly or make us feel like we are five years old. But it need not be so scary. If you need to, ease into it. Try starting with pink accents or accessories and build up to prints or block colours from there. Wearing pink is very chic!

But what do I wear with pink?

This is a common question I hear. You can wear it with anything. My top picks are navy, black, white, chambray, grey, green or teal. But depending on the shade or the brightness, you can also wear yellow and mustard through to coral and orange. Sometimes even cherry red will work!

So whether it’s a touch of pink or full pink, pastel or punchy, it’s time to embrace pink this October. While you are at it, don’t forget to check your boobies too!!

Stay stylish, sistas!
